Joanne Hoffman

Joanne Hoffman began her career in the entertainment industry as a development executive. She later attended Southwestern University with the intention of practicing Entertainment Law. Upon graduation from Law School, she served as Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs for Harmony Gold, an independent production, finance and foreign sales company. There, she managed all aspects of the business, financial and legal affairs of the company.

 

Joanne’s practice focuses on a wide range of entertainment-related transactions, with a client roster including major corporate entities, award winning producers, independent distributors, sales agents, filmmakers, authors and screenwriters. She has structured and negotiated major television, film and merchandising deals, supervised production on numerous films and dramatic projects and represented clients at top markets and festivals including MIPCOM, MIP TV, the American Film Market, Sundance, the Los Angeles Film Festival and AFI.

 

Joanne serves on the Independent Film and Television Alliance Legal Committee and is an Executive Member of Women in Film. She also provides pro bono legal services to organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, Children’s Vision Institute and Meals on Wheels. She is a past advisory board member of STARHOUSE, a non-profit organization established to provide long-term, transitional shelter to women who suffer from domestic violence, drug abuse and AIDS; and Meaningful Media, a non-profit organization offering support to filmmakers committed to social change.

 

Joanne received her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law.
